Javier J Lavalle is a musician and filmmaker. He studied music for seven years, transitioned to photography, and then eventually into filmmaking. Pursuing film and TV production at Manuela Beltran University in Bogota, Colombia, Javier worked as director and cinematographer on multiple school productions. He later studied digital cinematography at Unitec University, producing and directing his short film, As Distilled Water (2014), which screened online that same year.

Javier earned his MFA in Film Production from Full Sail University, where he collaborated on eight short films in the camera, grip, and sound departments. As cinematographer on his thesis film, 5K, a short comedy film about overcoming sexism and other obstacles, Javier worked closely with the GNE team through a 4-day production on location. Javier also composed an original song for the thesis film.

Javier has always been passionate about the arts and storytelling. He had leading roles in over 40 productions, including short films, documentaries, commercials, and music videos. He has written, directed, produced and shot several films including the first-person experimental short film, Fear, the character-driven short film, What’s the Point, which he edited and Cancer and Leo, a story about hope and Semi-Finalist at Los Angeles Cine Festival. In addition to working with digital video, Javier has written and directed a 16mm short film titled The Clitorius Bar; Javier moved to Los Angeles California where he has work in more than 30 commercial productions since 2020 including Nintendo, TJX, Apple, Intel, Marshalls, Dell, BMW, Ford among others, he is currently creating Ads and music videos.
